HIKING ALONG THE SOŠKA ROUTE | BOVEC IS SKIING

BOVEC SKIING: Hiking of the Bovec Alpine School along the Soška trail

Tuesday, 25/06/2019 - Bovec, Slovenia

We did the first hike of the year with the younger team, just like last year, on the Soška trail. The beautiful scenery provided us with enough motivation to start our summer activities.

We started where we left off last year - at the tourist farm Jelinčič. At first, the route led us through the Korita camp, a few homesteads and bridges between the trees, which offered us shelter from the otherwise rather strong sun. Of course, the river Soča kept us company all the time.

After about an hour's walk, we reached the Soča River's Great Beds, where we took a close look at them.

Excited and already a little hungry, we made our way to Lepena, where we had a snack by the walls of the troughs, naturally in the shade. It can be seen that the season is already underway, as the "swimming pool" was well occupied.

We continued along the left bank of the Soča, retreating between the trees from the increasingly intense heat. Bridges like the one at "Bunkers" where we observed a group of kayakers and the one at Zmuklica, where we caught the same group again, offered us an excellent opportunity to take photos of the memories of this really nice experience.

At Breka, we crossed the river Soča for the last time. But the best thing is that the children noticed the wonderful view of the typical Soča colors themselves.

We then continued along the right bank to Vodenci, where we also said goodbye to the river itself, and ascended via Rabeljek to Bovec. A long, but really beautiful route that took us through the greatest sights of the Soča Valley! At home, we drank every liter of water and went about it on our own.

We will meet again on Tuesday, when we are going to Matajur. Of course, new faces are also welcome!

Some more technical data: In total, we walked just under 18 kilometers in exactly five hours. Which considering the age (2 five-year-olds) is not bad at all!

Thank you and congratulations to all!
